Freezie debate
As many of you may know, it’s against the rules to bring food on the bus. I usually don’t enforce this, unless someone tries to bring something extremely messy on. I pulled up to a stop in Richfield, and a kid, probably in highschool, was waiting with an already-opened freezie
Nothing in the job description
I was driving a 94 line, starting at 4th & Mn. A man rode his bike to a bus laying over, I was across the street. He see’s me, asks what bus it is, I tell him 94 & it will pick up at shelter in 10 minutes. He then gets mad and starts arguing [...]
Is this the bus?
Last week I pulled into a bus stop because someone was sitting in the bus shelter. The man got up and stumbled to the outside of the shelter, propped himself up-somewhat and cigarette hanging out of his mouth asks, “Is this the bus?”
Friend who is a girl
It was my last trip of the night (about 11), on a mostly empty bus. A young woman got on and sat in one of the front side-facing seats. After a bit, she leaned in to me and said “can I ask you a personal question?” I paused for a moment.
Take this, it’s free

Long, long ago, before the buses had electronic fare boxes, drivers issued paper transfers and had to check them visually when they were presented. Also, long, long ago MTC, as it was called then, didn’t have its own police force. It hired off-duty police from various departments.
No aluminum foil hat
This happened today. A woman got on an eastbound trip at 4th and Nicolett. She was middle-aged, plump and wearing a few too many scarves. She said she wanted to get to Kellogg, in St. Paul. It turned out she wanted to go to Kellogg and John Ireland.
Here to straighten you out
Back in the days of Snelling Garage, I was in the drivers’ room when two of Metro Transit’s police came in and started using the phone. I listened for a bit and got curious enough to ask questions when they were done. It seems two youths of about fourteen years of age were riding the [...]
