Feel the braid

Reading the bus tale ‘Comb my hair‘ reminded me of the creepiest thing that I’ve ever seen on the bus. There was a man sitting across the aisle from me, he was average-looking, wearing a dress shirt and slacks and in front of him was a woman with braided hair. Her braids were hanging over the back of her seat and into his area and I noticed that he was touching one of the braids. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it was totally creepy!


Braided rugs on her head

Does anyone know what the story was/is with the woman who would ride the bus with about a foot of what looked like braided rugs or something stacked on her head, tied down to her head with a scarf type thing? Probably around 1992 last time I saw her. Who am I to say, but it seemed like she was on a field trip. Ahhh, yes, our beloved 16 route, vicinity of Snelling and University.


Bad hair decade

In the late 80’s I was on a bus, in Milwaukee. Probably going home from my “McJob” at the downtown mall, late at night. A woman gets on the bus, no one I recalled seeing on that route, as it was usually full of other “McJobbers” from the same mall, most of them high school kids like I was. It was kinda cold out. She had on a knee length wool coat, over a sweater, w. a scarf, a woolen cap, and a head scarf over that. Continue reading ‘Bad hair decade’
