Don’t sit in the pee seat

When I moved to Minneapolis six years ago, I had never been on a city bus. So after two weeks of being here, a friend an I decided to take a bus to the Mall of America. We figured it would be an adventure since we had both never been on a bus before.

Well the ride to the mall was fine, we didn’t get lost and nothing bad happened. However, we weren’t as lucky on the way back.

When we got on the bus it was pretty empty, and I noticed there was an old guy sleeping in the first forward facing seat. He was chubby and looked like he was homeless or just really dirty. He had a paper bag in his hand with a bottle in it, and it looked like he was sleeping.

Nothing unusual happened right away, my friend and I were just sitting there talking. Then all of a sudden we realized that the bus driver had stopped the bus and was telling the old guy to get off. He argued a little and got up slowly and that’s when we saw that he had peed his pants, and that’s why she was kicking him off the bus. Then I saw the puddle of pee underneath his seat. I was completely grossed out. But what happened next was even worse.

After he got off the bus, she never cleaned up the pee. We kept on going and after a few blocks she picked up a couple people and a lady sat down on the pee seat. Nobody said a word! I couldn’t believe it, and I felt a little guilty for not saying anything to her. I figured she would’ve noticed the wet seat or the puddle of pee beneath it.

After that disgusting incident, every time I ride the bus I always wonder who was sitting in the seat before me and what kind of germs I could be picking up.

    Hi there,

When a driver or passenger reports a bodily fluid upon the bus, the driver is to call it in directly to the bus company. They make the decision of whether or not the route can continue to the end or not, before brining it into the garage for special treatment due to the biological aspect.

A driver would not be required to clean it up, however, one would expect her to not let anyone else sit there in the meanwhile.
