I want some Play Dough
I was on my usual daily commute on the bus, and my freindly bus driver always called out the names of the streets. One of the streets in our area is Plato street. As he called “plato” a little girl riding with her grandmother whines- I want some Play Dough. Everyone on the bus cracked up. The grandma was trying to tell her that he was talking about the name of the street, but she wasn’t liking that explanation.

I get a kick out of the driver who calls Pacific St “PASS- if- ick” on the 70 bus.

Speaking of calling out street names–When the driver yells out aldine st. over by the midway how do we know it isn’t pronounced aldeen? I heard one driver yell it both ways. What is the meaning of that word? Sounds like a womans name if you ask me. Also–I remember an old driver who would yell out “and spring is just around the corner” meaning the spring st. bus stop in NE MPLS on the 10 line after announcing we just passed summer st. Then some lady told the bus driver that was a cute thing to say and the driver said he had been saying that one for years and that it was his last day of driving and was going to retire. There is a winter st. in NE but not nearby that intersection. I wonder why there isn’t a fall or autumn st. in NE MPLS?
