Elaborate descriptions
I love it when the bus driver really makes your day more delightful. I was on the 3C returning home from a half-day at work. There was only one other person on the bus and it was clear that we had both ridden this route many times before and new exactly where we were going. Despite this, the older, female driver still gave elaborate descriptions over the microphone of each stop and what stop was coming up. She even pointed out some details such as the “tree of shoes” as we were crossing the Washington Ave Bridge.
Finally, when it was time for someone to exit the bus, she gave them individualized departure greetings. It’s nice to see someone engaged in their job and the people around them. It really has the power to rejuvenate you for the rest of the day.
The only person I think can do an even better job of this is the “Jazzman” on the U of M Connector routes. Gotta love that jazz.

Here’s another tale about the same driver…she’s definitely a character!
