Twenties, tens, and fives
Right before my stop we were sitting at a red light. There was a homeless person on the corner [as is usually the case in minneapolis], whom she waved over. With a smile, she handed him a free transfer and we went on our way. I thought it was a very nice gesture. When we got to the stop where i was going to get off to wait for the six, the same guy walked up, with a friend. They began to bitch about what people had been giving them [”some lady gave me a bottle of water..what the fuck am i supposed to do with that?” etc], and count the money that they had received that day. They promptly decided to get on the six, go to a dealer’s house and buy some weed. These guys pulled out a roll of twenties, tens and fives…way more money than i had!
It was dissapointing to say the least.

So what took you so long to realize that the people on the corners holding up signs are just trying to scam people.

I think charities should “sell” cards with their name, address, phone number and a list of services they offer. People donate money to them and get a card for each dollar. Then they hand these cards to the sign people instead of money. If they REALLY need help, they will know where to get it. The legitimate charities get donations and the dope dealers and liquor stores don’t get ANY of your hard earned money.
STOP giving cash to sign people! We only pay higher taxes to hire more police to fight the dope dealers a lot of them are keeping in business! Give to charities…your money will be much better spent!
Thanks for letting me vent.
