Home Ec, Teaching, or Nursing?
This is an old story, but one that still warms my heart…about 10 years ago I was riding the 19 from the West Bank and this mid 40’s “normal” looking woman starting bus chatting with me.
She asked if I was a student at the U, I said yes. She said, “Oh that is so nice, are you in home economics, teaching, or nursing?” After that comment she started some not “normal” rambling and I knew what I was dealing with.
What really cracked me up is that she did not even appear old enough to be from a time when young women mostly studied those topics in college, it would have made sense if she was say, 80 years old.
