Night Manager or Narcolepsy Patient?

There’s a guy that used to ride almost everyday for about two months. During that time I never once saw him awake. Some people who sleep on the bus manage to do so without calling much attention to themselves. They also seem to get kind of comfy, snuggled up against the window. This guy did […]

First throw-up story

I’ve read through all of the tales here and am happy to see that I am the first with a good ol’ fashioned throw-up story. I got on the bus with my boyfriend and we were lucky enough to find an empty two seater. I sat next to the window, and about 2 minutes into […]

Lost & Found

I’m a bus driver, so will leave the route info off. Several days ago I had a passenger leave behind a full box of assorted “adult beverages”. There was beer, good scotch and tequilla as well. We never did find out who it belonged to, but probably cost over $100 bucks.

Mind your own business?

I was riding home on the 17 after a long hard day of work. I found the last remaining open seat. The bus was packed–standing room only. I drifted off into my own thoughts and blocked out all the noise around me.

The Tour Guide

Give a man a microphone and a captive audience and you’re asking for trouble. Unfortunately, this is the case for one of the drivers on my afternoon return route. I call him “Tour Guide Driver”.

Revenge of the rejected

I was commuting to work as usual, when a small group of people boarded the bus, and the last gal to get on was suddenly harrassed by the bus driver. He told her that he wouldn’t drive the bus if she got on. She got on, paid and sat down up front and he continued […]

50 lbs of cat feces

I actually don’t live in St Paul or Minn but I do regularly ride the bus here in Charlotte, NC. I have been doing so for 3 years and not much has happened but there is a woman on my route, in her late 50’s I guess, who wears a bright, blond wig […]

It’s the cops!

In the spring of ‘05 my friend Rebecca and I were taking the 4 southbound to meet some friends at the Bulldog. The route usually heads out of downtown Minneapolis on Hennepin and then Lyndale, in an exchange that proves to be a bit hairy in rush hour, but usually passes without incident.

Don’t sit in the pee seat

When I moved to Minneapolis six years ago, I had never been on a city bus. So after two weeks of being here, a friend an I decided to take a bus to the Mall of America. We figured it would be an adventure since we had both never been on a bus before.

Stick to the Route

My least favorite driver on my return trip home (see The Tour Guide) loves to try to take “shortcuts” to get around unfavorable stop lights. Another time he even made the most pointless deviation from the route I could possibly imagine.
